What you need
Your slides, a webcam, and the Opivv extension. The camera bubble is what turns a plain screen recording into a presentation: a small face in the corner makes it feel like you are in the room walking someone through the deck, which is exactly what keeps people watching.
Step by step
- Open your deck in presentation mode. Load your slides in Google Slides, PowerPoint for the web, Canva, or Pitch, and start the full-screen present view.
- Start Opivv with camera and mic on. Click the Opivv icon (or press Alt+Shift+R). In the setup overlay, switch on the camera bubble and your microphone.
- Choose the slides as your source. Pick the tab or window your deck is in. Position the camera bubble in a corner where it will not cover your slide content.
- Present as you normally would. Talk through your slides and advance them at your pace. Press M at the start of each section so viewers can jump between chapters.
- Stop and share the link. Click stop when you finish. The recording uploads and a share link is copied to your clipboard, ready to send.
Place your camera where it helps
Drop the camera bubble into a corner that your slides leave empty, usually bottom-left or bottom-right. You want your face visible without hiding a chart or a bullet. A talking-head in the corner adds warmth and holds attention far better than a disembodied voice over static slides.
Look at the camera, not the slides, when you make your key points. It reads as eye contact and it is the closest thing to presenting live.
Do it in one take
Re-recording from the top every time you stumble is how a five-minute talk eats an afternoon. If you fluff a line, pause with Alt+Shift+P, gather yourself, and resume. Small stumbles are human and viewers barely notice them. On Pro you can also trim the rough patches out afterward with the built-in editor.
Keep each section short and land one idea per slide. Press M as you move on, so the finished recording has clean chapters people can skim.
Common questions
How do I record a presentation with my face on it?
Turn on the camera bubble and your microphone in the Opivv setup overlay, then record the tab or window holding your slides. Your webcam shows in a corner while you present, and everything captures in one recording.
Can I record PowerPoint or Google Slides with my webcam?
Yes. Open the deck in presentation mode in your browser, start Opivv with the camera and mic on, and choose that tab or window as the source. It works the same for Google Slides, PowerPoint for the web, Canva, and Pitch.
Is it free?
Yes. Recording a narrated presentation with your webcam and sharing the link are free, up to 5 minutes per clip. For longer talks, Pro ($5/month) raises the limit to 2 hours and adds a trim-and-cut editor and AI transcripts.
How do I add my camera to the recording?
The camera bubble is a toggle in the Opivv setup overlay. Switch it on before you start and grant camera permission once, and your webcam appears as a movable bubble on top of your slides.
